Turkish photographer Ara Güler, also known as the “Eye of Istanbul” has died at the age of 90, on Wednesday 17th October. Born on 16th August, 1928, Ara Güler joined the Turkish newspaper Yeni Istanbul in 1950 and became the initial correspondent of Time-Life at the opening of their Turkish branch in 1958. From then on he was regularly commissioned by other international magazines, such as Stern, Paris Match, and Sunday Times, London. In 1961, he was hired by Hayat magazine as their chief photographer.
