Distro - Friendship Park

Carolyn Drake

The Hernandez family is one of several chosen to participate in a cross border celebration of Children’s Day in Mexico. The father of Arturo and Luis Hernandez, who Carolyn Drake photographed in LA, was deported to Mexico and permanently separated from his sons.
During this event, sponsored by migrant-advocacy group Border Angels, the emergency door of the border fence at Friendship Park opens to give five families separated by the border three minutes each to embrace.
