Feature - Hong Kong's Tiananmen Vigil Cancelled
For the first time in 30 years, the Hong Kong government has banned the annual Tiananmen Square vigil, citing concerns over Covid19.
Last year's event, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the massacre, was the largest staged anywhere in the world with organizers estimating that 180,000 people participated; police put the number at 40,000. The 2019 vigil marked the start of a year of anti-government protests in Hong Kong.
Sim Chi Yin was present to photograph the event.
