Emin Ozmen
TURKEY, Mardin, 28 September 2020. Hale (11) poses at home. Her school is closed due to COVID-19 measures. She misses her school a lot, especially her friends. They have no internet – so no any experience with online education / nor TV education as their TV gets only a few Syrian channels. She wants to become a police officer, she thinks ‘they are respected people in society’.
Hale lives with her father Zekeriya (54) and mother Muna (54). They fled from Aleppo (Syria) in 2013. She lost two of her brothers during the war. They lost all her contacts – and has no any news from her friends and relatives who remain in Syria ; ‘they are all dead or forced to leave somewhere else’.
