BURKINA FASO. Kokologo. 2021. Quarry workers at the red stone quarry of Kokologo, where men hammer rectangular red laterite stones out of the solid ground. Working up to 12 hours a day, they provide the materials for another form of traditional eco-sensitive Burkinabe architecture. These bricks keep houses cool in the summer and warm at the height of the rainy season. As temperatures continue to warm, routinely hitting 45C in the hotter months, these stone workers are busier than ever.
