SYRIA. Damascus. December 18, 2024.
The Palestine Branch building in Damascus. The Palestine Branch is one of Syria's most infamous intelligence and detention centers. Known for its role in the Syrian government’s brutal crackdown on dissent, the facility has become synonymous with torture, enforced disappearances, and inhumane conditions. For decades, it has been a site of anguish for political prisoners, activists, and countless others who vanished behind its heavily guarded walls. Survivors’ harrowing accounts describe a grim reality of overcrowded cells, relentless interrogations, and systematic abuse.
