President Emmanuel Macron’s reform to increase the legal retirement age in France was approved by the Constitutional Council on April 14, clearing the way for the measure to be gradually introduced in the coming months. Despite the widespread popular anger against the reform, Macron moved swiftly, taking the final step of signing the measures into definitive law a few hours later, (minus some provisions that were scrapped by the council).
