Larry Towell
USA. Rome. Georgia. October. 2024. This estate house incorporates the original 1790’s log home of Major Ridge, a Cherokee chief, successful entrepreneur and political leader of the Cherokee Nation who signed the Treat of New Echota relinquishing Cherokee land in hope of saving his people, but it condemned them to the Trail Of Tears. He was murdered along with his son and nephew in the house where it was signed in New Echota, Cherokee government centre, Georgia, in 1935. Excavation pit behind house.
