Sabiha Çimen
USA. Los Angeles. July 2025. lmmigrant nurse, Yesol Hong, 38, with her baby. She moved in the US when she was 16 years old and has now four kids. To know the language and culture was already a challenge, she said, adding there was a lot to learn. She struggled to keep the spirit of Korean tradition and said she's been facing racism through deeply rooted unspoken bias. She described how Korean nurses do the work that other people take credit for, as no one talk about them. Non-immigrants do minimum work but they make it ten times quicker to upper management role than immigrants, she said. According to her, education is the one way to overcome and be equal. So she encourage nurses get higher degrees to have no challenge.
