MARSHALL ISLANDS. The coconut palm is also called the tree of life. It provides milk from young coconuts, wood for building and plam leaves for weaving. Here the coconut flesh- "copra" is extracted, dried and pressed to make coconut oil. Which has many uses, from rubbing into skin to fuel. A miniature Marshall Islands' pig, descendent of animals brought here by the first European explorers, and now a specialised island sub-species, roots around for a free meal. 2004.
