USA. California. A blue lifeline runs through the dried grasslands of central California. It is part of the state-wide aqueduct system, which carries water to irrigate the farmlands of the central valley. Nearly one third of California's 100 Million acres are devoted to agriculture. The state ranks first in the US in market value of agricultural production with annual output valued at US$27 Billion. 2004.
