UGANDA. Amuria. 2008Amuria suffered a flood in July 2007 that killed hundreds of people and destroyed crops, homes and livelihoods. Temporary boreholes were put in at the time to provide water but the severe water shortage here meant that these were still in use in 2008 despite the water being contaminated. At any time of the day queues of women and children could be found jostling for their turn.
