UK. London. Brunel tunnel under the Thames between Wapping and Rotherhithe opened to the public in 1834. It was the first modern tunnel under water and the first under the Thames. The Khedive of Egypt wanted his own version bult under the Nile. Now being restored for the replacement of the East London Line. Picture taken in 2009.
