G.B. ENGLAND. Army. The lack of Black British Officers is frequently remarked on by the US Army, which thanks to positive discrimination has scores of black generals, and where 10% of the officers are black. Lt Colonel Jo Griffiths Eyton, of the Welsh Guards claims "there is no mention of anyone's colour on the computer. None. We select on the basis of merit and ability only". The Colonel and his staff were adamant that no one wanting to get into the Guards had ever been turned down because he was black. "The computer is colour blind". 1987
