PAKISTAN Peshawar. September 2001. The International Media. This group of eight Afghan refugee families, arrived from Kabul one year ago, and have set up a makeshift carpet factory, the looms are operated by children who work on them between 12 and 18 hours per day. Each family has one room in this building, there is no sanitation, and no schooling available for the children, but these are luckier than many other families, who have no alternative than to build temporary shelter on the streets of Peshawar.
