Alessandra Sanguinetti
California. July, 2020. Cotati. Jennifer K.
"Jennifer's son was murdered in 2016. She set up a shrine for him on a busy street corner in the neighborhood. We pass it every day.
"I have fought to avoid going killing myself. I have fought to avoid becoming a drug addict, and I have fought to avoid divorce because usually when somebody loses a son one of those things happen".
"I don't know who it is trying to destroy America. They're trying to destroy capitalism, and I think they're using our freedom of speech against us. China controls Microsoft, and Bill gates had a lab in China.
I don't know maybe some elite rich white people think we should be a socialist country. I don't know, though, and that's what nobody knows. We all feel something's up, but nobody knows where this virus is coming from.
And now with the protests, well, I think whoever is instigating it, is fueling the little groups like Antifa. I think Black Lives Matter has been used by anti-Americans to divide the country. It's not black people, but criminals who take are taking advantage of them.
These are confusing times right now.
It's very confusing because some of us feel something is going on that's scary or dangerous, but other people say everything's normal.
Some of my friends say that they're afraid to speak the truth because they are afraid of being called racist. Even all of the black people I know have said that they don't understand why it's so heated right now. There's an underlying feeling that somebody is using our freedom of speech to stir up hate between, for example, Christians and Gays and between Blacks and Whites.
Sure, there are certainly inequalities in every area. There will always be greed. It seems like there's just a lot that we don't know. We don't know who to trust or who to believe."
