Carolyn Drake
Kazakhstan. between Kyzylorda and Aralsk. 2009. The train from Kyzylorda to Aralsk parallels the Syr Darya and the wide Kazakh steppe. The Soviets brought railways and roads which linked distant towns along the river and allowed goods like fish from the Aral Sea to be transported vast distances across the Soviet Union.
