TURKEY. Buyukada Island. 2011. An old orphanage by a forest on Jesus Hill on Buyukada Island. It was constructed as a hotel in 1898 by French-born architect Alexandre Vallaury but was never put to use. Later it was purchased by a rich Greek family and donated to the Patriarchate to be used as a school for Greek orphans. It was evacuated in the early 1970s.
