CHINA, Xinjiang. 2013. Photographer Carolyn Drake made prints of her own photographs and then asked her Uyghur subjects to draw their own pictures on top of them. In some cases she also interviewed her subject: 'Visiting the cemetery. This person is praying in front of the grave asking God to forgive the sins of the person buried in this grave,' says a jade miner in Hotan of his additions to a picture of a man praying.
