IRAQ. Chibaish. 2012. Men gather around the reed frame of a house in the Central Marsh, one of three distinct areas of the Great Mesopotamian Marshes. It lies between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers and was almost completely dried out under the rule of Saddam Hussein. SInce 2003 the waters have returned and the Madan (Marsh Arabs) have been able to re-establish their traditional way of life.
