G.B. England. Wiltshire. Salisbury. Salisbury Cathedral. The best preserved of the four remaining copies of the original 1215 Magna Carta is on display in the Chapter House of the cathedral. Magna Carta, Latin for Great Charter, is one of the most celebrated documents in English history. At the time it was the solution to a political crisis in mediaeval England but its importance has endured as it has become recognised as a cornerstone of liberty influencing much of the civilised world. Visitors hear about and inspect the document which is 800 years old in 2015 from a local historian. 2015
