CHINA. Urumqi. 2009. A young Uighur who was injured in the July 2009 ethnic riots, stands in the elevator of his apartment building in Urumqi. Government statistics stated that around 200 people, mostly Han Chinese, were killed in the riots. Human rights groups assert that several hundred innocent Uighur men were taken from their homes and imprisoned in the aftermath of the riots, and haven't been seen since.
