TURKEY, Diyarbakir, 2018. Mehmet flies his pigeons on the rooftop of his home, near the temporary wall that surrounds Sur district, where government gentrification project goes on in Diyarbakir. A large part of Sur district was destroyed during the fight between PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) and Turkish Special forces (during the 285 days of curfew in Diyarbakir between 2015 and 2016).
On March, 2016 the government ordered by decree
the "urgent expropriation" of some 80 percent of the properties within Sur walls.
