USA. Spring Valley, California. 2018. After Rod's house burned down in the summer of 2018 in the Mendocino fire complex, he opted to use the insurance money to do the cleanup himself. Along with the furniture, cars, and possessions of his family, he lost a barbecue truck and a coffee truck that were full of metal paraphernalia that melted and morphed in the fire. As he cleaned up the ashes, Rod sorted through the metal remains with the idea of using it as artwork in the coffee shop that he and his partner hope to open one day.
