TURKEY. Gaziantep. 2018. Mahmud, 10, works in a small garage in Gaziantep. He fled Aleppo with his mother, his two sisters and his brother in 2014. His father decided to stay in Aleppo and to fight. They have no news from him since Aleppo's fall. He believes his father is dead.

I first met Mahmud two years ago when he was 8. He was already working 60 hours weekly in a garage with his uncle Hisem and his brother Ahmed (now 14). Because of the working conditions and the lack of protection (no mask, no glasses) he now suffers from asthma. So I met Mahmud again this month and I was shocked by the fact that he has hardly grown up in two years. Nothing has changed for him. He continues to work very hard. His brother no longer works with him but for a company that installs running water in buildings.
Mahmud works 6 days in a week, for weekly 25 usd.
