A fatally wounded Libyan smuggler is taken into custody aboard a Libyan Coast Guard boat after a deadly confrontation and shootout between a group of armed Libyan smugglers and a patrol of the Libyan Coast Guard based in Zawiyah, Libya. The armed Libyan smugglers were escorting a rubber boat full of migrants to international waters off the Libyan coast when a Libyan Coast Guard patrol encountered them in the sea. The smugglers refused to surrender, and instead opened fire on the Libyan Coast Guard boat, a shootout ensued in which four smugglers were killed, and a fifth one went missing after falling overboard. One Libyan Coast Guard was wounded. The smuggler in this photo died from his wounds hours after this photo was taken.
