USA. Standing Rock, North Dakota. December 5th, 2016. The Oceti Sakowin Camp (known popularly as Standing Rock) set up across the Missouri River, the proposed crossing point for the Dakota Access Pipeline. It was established by activists (known as Water Protectors) intent on disrupting the passage of the pipeline in order to protect the local water supply and sacred burial grounds, as well as ensure that treaties made between the Federal government and Standing Rock Sioux are honored.
