France. Tarn. Albi. The Sainte-Cécile cathedral. The episcopal city, situated around the cathedral, was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2010. The cathedral, a masterpiece of the Southern Gothic style built between the 13th and 15th centuries, is characterised by a strong contrast between its austere, defensive exterior and its sumptuous interior decoration. The interior of the cathedral looking west to the painting of the Last Judgement attributed to unknown Flemish artists which originally covered nearly 200 square metres (the central area was later removed). 2016
