France. 2017. Taizé. The Taizé Community is an ecumenical monastic order in Taizé, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy, France. The community has become one of the world's most important sites of Christian pilgrimage, with a focus on youth. Over 100,000 young people from around the world make pilgrimages to Taizé each year for prayer, Bible study, sharing, and communal work. A voicespeeker said: “The conflicts that give rise to so much tragedy and exile, migration for ecological and economic reasons, will last. It is vain to hope for an early return to normal. Closing borders more and more has never been a solution. A policy of welcome must be long-term.”.
