By the side of the bride during the ceremony is this older relative wearing a mantilla The use of the mantilla (a form of headdress) dates back to the XVII century, and is now sometimes worn by older generations as part of the religious ceremonies. The mantilla is exceptionally long and can trail several feet behind a bride's wedding dress and veil. Here she is greeted by an older man. 2017
