USA. Chicago, IL. 1946. City Desk at the Chicago Defender, “The World’s Greatest Weekly.” The Defender has the largest circulation of any African-American paper in Chicago. Also has a national edition which circulates down the Mississippi River. The Defender has autonomous papers in Detroit, Michigan, and Louisville. Is fourth or fifth in circulation of all the African-American weeklies.
