Alec Soth
USA. Minneapolis, Minnesota. April 18, 2020. Chris Sayers, 51, has been homeless for 10 months. Last year his Ojibwe tribe, Red Lake Nation, started construction on a housing complex for the homeless in Minneapolis called Mino-Bimaadiziwin, which roughly translates as "live the good life." Chris had hoped to be living there by now but construction has been delayed because of the pandemic. When I met him, Chris and his girlfriend (name withheld) were waiting to have their car towed. "Each day is a gift," he told me, "it took me a long time to learn that, but now I'm a happy person. I'm just grateful to be alive."
