Turkey, Istanbul. 2020. People setup a banner on the wall written ‘Ibrahim Gokcek, member of Grup Yorum is immortal’. People gathered in Gazi Cemevi, during the funeral ceremony of singer Ibrahim Gokcek, second member of banned Turkish folk group who died after 323 days of hunger strike (in protest of the government’s crackdown on the band).

The band is known for protest songs in Turkish and Kurdish focusing on capitalism, imperialism, anti-Americanism and Turkish government policies, which they say penalize the poor.
