SOUTH KOREA. Seoul. Although Toksugung Palace, one of the palaces remaining from the Lee dynasty, is located in central downtown Seoul, it remains a secluded spot. In the background can be seen modern high-rise buildings, a stimulating contrast. I visited here one weekend morning and came across a group of about two dozen photographers assembled in front of the palace's main gate. They had cameras fixed with telephoto lenses. At first I thought they were waiting to photograph a state guest from abroad or some other VIP. As it turned out, though, they were waiting to take wedding pictures. September is the wedding season in South Korea, a busy season for them. They were quite professional in the way they went about their work, together with hair stylists and various assistants.
