CHINA. Guangzhou, Guangdong. 1996. After the number of train arrivals and departures at Guangzhou station reached its limit, East Guangzhou Station was expanded. Coupled with that was a rush in the construction of high-rise office buildings in the station's immediate vicinity. Many unskilled laborers came to the city from the provinces to work on the construction projects, and much of the construction work is still done manually. In the future, the area around East Guangzhou Station is certain to become the principal business center in Guangzhou.
