CHINA. Inner Mongolia. Bayan Ul Hot. 1981?. Mongolian Militia. Military maneuvers and a parade were inaugurated at Nadam only recently but the maneuvers conducted by the militia woman are an exciting attraction, the main event for many observers. It is doubtful that the role of the cavalry in modern warfare would be very significant but Bayan Ul Hot is on 200km from the Mongol border where the Soviet mechanized divisions are reportedly stationed. Perhaps these maneuvers are intended to keep up the morale of the common people. Here we see the participants resting before maneuvers begin.
