Elliott Erwitt
SCOTLAND. 2012. Tattie Bogle Scarecrow Festival 2012, Carbost, Isle of Skye, Inner Hebrides. Started in 2011, visitors to the festival walk along the ‘tattie bogle’ (scarecrow) trail, encountering every imaginable variety of straw man along the way. A prize is given to the maker of the best creation and the month-long fest ends with a traditional family cèilidh — a Gaelic term meaning visit, used to describe a celebration rife with stories, music and dance, usually held at a friend or neighbour’s home.
