SCOTLAND. 2012. Varkasaig Beach, Orbost Estate, Isle of Skye, Inner Hebrides. Misty, a Bearded Collie, is a working cattle and sheep dog. She also loves to swim and run along the black sands of Varkasaig Beach. Though identified as black volcanic sand, there is a local legend that the beach turned black following a huge storm that swapped Varkasaig’s original white sand with the black sand supposedly found on Harlosh Island beach.
