BANGLADESH. Keraniganj, Dhaka District. 2015. Keranigani, on the Buriganga River at the south end of Dhaka, is one of the largest ports in the world. The river is so toxic it cannot sustain marine life. Keraniganj houses hundreds of small garment factories where workers are paid by piece work. Most sew a minimum of twelve hour days, six days a week. Children as young as 10 years old work for free under two year training contracts.
