SOUTH PACIFIC. November 5th, 1943 on board the US aircraft carrier USS Saratoga. An officer and enlisted men on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga gather around a bullhorn, one of the many in the public address system for disseminating news to all parts of the ship. Captain John Howard CASSADY, commander of the USS Saratoga, makes a point of taking the personnel completely into his confidence. He has authorized daily news broadcasts and more frequent ones during combat.
