Erich Hartmann
USA. Bethesda, Maryland. 1981. Stained glass gels are examined under ultraviolet light at the National Institute of Health to find sequencing of controlled restriction enzymes. Made visible by the eerie glow of ultraviolet light, pure fragments of DNA can be sliced out of a gel for use in genetic research.
