ICELAND. Hengill. 2007. The Hellisheidi geothermal power station in the Hengill area, is located in a geothermal area approximately 20 kilometers east of Reykjavik. This is an area close to very unique Lava formations. Critics complain that geothermal plants have a substantial impact on the physical land, with a large physical footprint. Helisheidi has been planned to expand further to meet growing needs of Icelands industries, something that has been met with resistance among local environmentalists.
