CHINA. Lhasa. Tibet. 1981. Posture for prayer. In a special pose called "Kechangtou" they prostrate themselves fully on the ground and stretch out their arms and legs to pray. They do this in front of the Buddha's image, and many of them walk around Jokhang Temple and Potala Palace stopping many times to adopt the position, over and over again. Some of the faithful wear gloves or thick coverings resembling baseball gloves to protect themselves from injury.
