PALESTINE. Beit Surik, West Bank. 2004. An American Jewish member of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) is arrested by an Israeli soldier during a peaceful joint Israeli-Palestinian demonstration against the wall. The local Palestinian villages will lose up to 80% of their land due to the route of the separation barrier. The protester is followed by another US resident and member of the ISM, an international peace organization, two of whose members, Rachel Corrie and Tom Hurndall, were killed by an Israeli bulldozer and sniper forces in the Gaza Strip in 2003. To date, five local Palestinians have died in protests against the wall.
