WEST BANK. Nazlat Isa. 2004. Nida Abdallah Mohammad ZABAD, age: 37, displays bullet holes in his body after being shot and left for dead by a Jewish settler on the date that he later had tattooed on his abdomen. After partially recovering, he attempted to assault the Israeli policemen who came to interview him regarding the attack. Due to the ensueing beating, he is now epileptic and has head injuries. Nidal was charged with assault and imprisoned. Due to his severe condition, he attained a release and was sent to Russia for medical care, where he married a Polish nurse who returned with him. As their house has now been integrated into the separation wall, the roof has been occupied by the Israeli army as a watch post. Two floors above him have been taken over by Israelis. Nida, his wife, Katia, and their young daughter, Aliza, will soon emigrate to Poland as part of the voluntary transfer program accomplished by making daily life for Palestinians unbearable. Cut off from Israel and often from the rest of the West Bank, Palestinians will lose half of their land, plus access to employment, schools, shopping and hospitals. Many will find themselves living in walled-in cantons.
