DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO. 2008. (Translation)
"Life is getting harder and harder. No food. We have to walk very far to get water. We are 8 in a small hut. I pray every day to go back to my normal life."
This family lives in a makeshift-unofficially sanctioned refugee camp w/o any services at all. Survival is based on sifting through the garbage dumps of the other refugee camps. Most people have been internally displaced for the 18 years of the conflict. There is an estimated 980,000 internally displaced people in North Kivu Province alone.
