COLOMBIA. Calli. 1998. For years Agua Blanca been the hope for thousands of refugees trying to escape the violence of armed conflict. It's an impoverished quagmire where everyone lives under the treat of violence. Family violence is so pervasive that MSF conducts workshops called 'Encuentro Con Amor' to 'eradicate violence against women'. Young and old come together to learn, to encourage one another and to celebrate their strengths. Many young pregnant women participated. Most are not married and the ramifications cause great stress and anxiety for the young women and men.
