the festival of the Orange picking season, a century ago many Chinese left this region to migrate to the United States where they worked on the building of the intercontinental railraods, and those who later returned to their homelands from California brought with them orange plants which are now grown in the Fujian province.this event is also to encourage the "overseas Chinese" to return to China to make local invesments and help with economic fundings.during the old regime these Chinese were considered with doubt, and frowned upon. the present regime is now making every attempt to encourage their return and their financial investments.
