Pilgrims enter the church of the Holy Sepulchre to the left which houses the stone on which Christ's body was washed, and a second stone from which he rose from the dead. It was visited by hundreds of thousands of christian pilgrims of te Greek, Russian, Syrian Orthodox faiths for the millenium Christmas celebrated on January 7. The Church is shared by several denominations and orders, including the Roman catholic Jesuits who celebrate Christmas on December 25. An estimated four million tourists and pilgrims visited the Holy Land for the millenium.
