Aboard the purse-seiner fishing vessel the "Sklinabanken".
This floating net known as a "purse seine" is used for trapping the palagic species of fish, in this case herring. Once the schooling fish are encircled with the net, the bottom is then closed or "pursed," trapping the fish and enabling them to then be loaded onto the boat for processing.
